Krabi

The perfectly idyllic escape for those looking to get away from it all

Krabi

Krabi is an easily accessible and arguably the most idyllic beach destination in Thailand, located in the southwest corner along on the Andaman Sea. It is here that you will find the infamous and postcard-ready limestone formations along the beach created by thousands of years of geography.

Krabi features the tropical islands, picturesque beaches and crystal-clear waters that we associate with paradise. Phra Nang Beach or Railay Beach offers the best waterfront spots for taking in some rays.

Feeling more adventurous? Explore Phulay Bay or take a day tour to Koh Hong Island for one-of-a-kind snorkeling or diving. Krabi itself, especially Tonsai Bay offers multiple outdoors activities, the most famous being rock-climbing. But across the region, you’ll find companies offering sea kayaking, watersports trekking, or exploring its lesser known inland routes.  Although, for most; unwinding on the beach and eating delicious seafood and Thai cuisine is usually on the agenda here.

While you will find beach bars in Krabi, it does not really have an LGBT+ scene; although you will find plenty of LGBT+ folk vacationing there – especially if you decide to stay at gay-run Le Passe-Temps, a small and luxurious ‘bungalow village’ offering stunning views over Phang Nga Bay. Although anyone can stay here, the hotel offers an exceptionally welcoming atmosphere for LGBT+ travellers, thanks its ownership. Though, take it from us; capacity is limited and it’s advisable to book early.

If you want to get even further afield, grab a boat or ride from Krabi Town or Ao Nang Pier and you’ll soon be enroute to Koh Phi Phi or Koh Lanta. Those looking for off the beaten track islands can easily get to the breathtaking Koh Kradan, Koh Rok, Koh Jum and Koh Ngai among scores of others. From the same spots, boat trips are available to check out the area’s stunning geology.
