Gay Bangkok guide – the hottest bars, clubs, and saunas

Bangkok, Thailand’s electric capital, has long been a mecca for gay travellers from every corner of the globe. But you didn’t need us to tell you that. You’re here because the flights are booked, the excitement is building, and you want to know exactly where the action is! Well, you’ve come to the right place.

From sky-high drag bars where queens command the spotlight, to sweat-slicked nightclub dance floors pulsing with house beats, and steamy saunas where late-night “wellness” takes on an entirely new meaning, this glittering metropolis offers something to tempt every flavour of hedonist – and this is your cheat sheet to it all. Here are the hottest gay venues in Bangkok right now.

House of HEALS

The vibe: Drag heaven | Glamorous

Obsessed with drag? Sashay your way to the 33rd floor of the Renaissance Bangkok Ratchaprasong Hotel for House of HEALS – you won’t regret it! A nightlife project from Pangina Heals, Thailand’s biggest drag star and one of the main faces of Drag Race Thailand, House of HEALS is much more than a drinks stop: expect high-energy drag shows, runway performances, live singing, and audience games most nights of the week.

Circus Soi 4

The vibe: New classic | Reliable

Circus is one of those venues you’ll pop your head in while strolling through Silom Soi 4, then likely end up staying at for the rest of the night. The rebranded successor to Telephone Pub – one of Soi 4’s original gay bars – this bar had some big boots to fill after the pandemic, but it filled them wonderfully. With great drinks, regular entertainment, and a steady party atmosphere, it’s the kind of all-rounder that fits any mood and any friend group.

Insider Note: When people mention “Soi 4” or “Soi 2”, they’re talking about side streets off a main road. In gay Bangkok, Silom Soi 4 (pronounced see-lom soy 4) is the main bar strip, while Silom Soi 2 is where things shift into more club-focused territory. The two are right next to each other, so you can move between them in minutes.

The Stranger Bar

The vibe: Campy | Loud laughs

Think of The Stranger Bar as House of HEALS’ rough-and-read older sister: less rooftop polish, more street-level spontaneity and more grit – but just as committed to a good show. Sitting along the main strip, this long-running drag bar is known for nightly shows that range from polished lip-sync numbers to chaotic, crowd-working comedy. It’s a staple for anyone who likes their drinks served with a slice of sass.

LESHI BAR

The vibe: Sapphic | Social

Dedicated sapphic bars are still a relatively new development in Bangkok, but the scene is quickly gaining momentum. One particular hangout leading the charge is LESHI BAR. Located in Din Daeng, it offers a stylish, women-focused alternative to Silom’s boisterous (or should we say, boysterous) strip, with sing-along pop, R&B and themed nights that bring the community together. It’s simply a must for queer women visiting the city.

TUFF Bar

The vibe: Girls’ night core | Relaxed

We told you sapphic bars were catching on in Bangkok! TUFF Bar is one of Bangkok’s newest lesbian-focused nightlife spots, opening its doors in the Silom area to give queer women, transmascs, sapphic folks, and the dolls a space of their own. Cosy and curated with great drinks and a friendly crowd, this space feels more like a community hangout than a typical bar.

Clubs:

DJ Station

The vibe: Fast-paced | Muscles everywhere

Every city has that one club everyone knows. In Bangkok, it’s DJ Station, without a doubt. Practically a rite-of-passage for every gay visiting Thailand’s electric capital, this is the place to land after bar hopping along Soi 4. Dress light, because all three floors warm up fast once the nightly drag cabaret kicks things off and the dance floors start heaving with bodies. Shirts have a habit of disappearing here – strictly for temperature control, of course.

Fake Club Bangkok

The vibe: Local crowd | Peak-hour chaos

Out in Ratchadaphisek Soi 4 (Huai Khwang area), Fake Club Bangkok is a shift away from Silom’s tight-knit bar strip. Bigger, brasher, and more production-heavy, it’s known for full stage setups, themed nights and a crowd that skews young and fashion-conscious. This isn’t a squeeze-into-the-corner dance floor; it’s catwalks and pop anthems delivered at full volume. The clientele is largely local, with travellers who’ve done their research making the trip across town.

G Bangkok

The vibe: Circuit beats | After-party energy

Just around the corner from DJ Station on Silom Soi 2, G Bangkok – still widely known by its cheeky original name, G.O.D., which stands for Guys On Display (oh, the blasphemy) – has built its reputation on late nights (it closes at 5:30 am!) and unapologetic circuit scene energy. The space runs darker, louder, and more club-led, with house and EDM-style sounds driving the pace.

BEEF.BKK

The vibe: Big and bold | Friendly floor

Once upon a time, Bangkok’s bears went wandering through the city to find the perfect nightlife venue, and this one was ‘just right’. BEEF. BKK, perched up on the upper floors of Silom Edge, has become a firm favourite for the bigger, broader boys and those who admire them. The soundtrack leans towards house and disco with plenty of bounce, mixed with western-pop and K-pop. We hope you have an appetite for a good time, because the portions here are generous!

Saunas:

KRUBB Sauna

The vibe: Modern | Urban-lifestyle

A relative newcomer to the scene – and often cited by locals and visitors alike as one of the more social, refined options currently running – KRUBB feels less like a quick steam stop and more like a gay social club with sauna perks. There’s a gym, steam room, and dry sauna, co-working space, plus one of the city’s largest sento-style pools and a café on the ground floor that makes lingering easy.

Sauna Mania

The vibe: Central and convenient | Classic

This long-running, no-frills classic is situated in the heart of gay Bangkok, Silom, making it the perfect spot to fold into a night out. Spread across multiple levels, the space includes a steam room, dry sauna, small gym area, private cabins, and a simple bar counter where people pause, reset, and socialise. The crowd skews slightly more local, with numbers building from around 5 pm on weekdays and picking up again in the late afternoon and pre-clubbing hours on weekends.

R3 Ratchada Sauna

The vibe: Themed nights | High activity

R3 Ratchada Sauna is one of Bangkok’s larger, modern-leaning gay saunas tucked away in Ratchada Soi 3, outside the more traditional Silom district. Popular among young local Thai men, it combines luxurious steam rooms and dry saunas with a gym area, private cabins, fantasy spaces, a dark maze, a rooftop terrace, and even a movie room. It also hosts different themed nights through the week, ranging from Naked Sundays to Japanese Underwear Wednesdays.

Zen Onsen

The vibe: Calmer crowd | Wellness

If the clubs have wrung you out and the city heat has done the rest, Zen Onsen is where you go to reset. Tucked away in the Lat Yao/Jatujak area, this Japanese-inspired bathhouse offers a calmer alternative to the busier, more hardcore gay sauna scene in Bangkok, although it still oozes with testosterone. Think hot soaking pools, tranquil steam rooms and a slower, more deliberate rhythm.
