Four Seasons Resort Koh Samui: A gay-friendly Thailand resort confirmed for The White Lotus Season 3

The White Lotus – gay-friendly Thailand resorts confirmed for season 3

Ever since word got out that The White Lotus was heading to The Land of Smiles for its third season, fans of the hit TV show have been in full-on detective mode, trying to figure out the chosen resort setting for the next instalment. Well, guess what? The cat is finally out of the bag! It has just been revealed that not just one, but two fabulous, gay-friendly Thailand resorts are on the docket for Season 3: one in Koh Samui and the other in Phuket – and they’re nothing short of extraordinary. Here’s a peek inside them:

The luxurious hotels play a pivotal role in the acclaimed HBO series as they are where a majority of the drama unfolds. The first season was shot at the Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea in Hawaii, and the second season was set at the Four Seasons in Taormina, Sicily. Undoubtedly a tough act to follow, but this breathtaking Four Seasons resort in Koh Samui is poised to give its predecessors a serious run for their money.

Sprawled across a beautifully landscaped hillside on the northwestern tip of Koh Samui, this LGBT-friendly five-star resort is the very definition of Thai island perfection. With 60 carefully positioned sea-facing villas rising on stilts out of coconut groves and dense foliage, guests here enjoy a level of privacy and luxury usually reserved for A-list celebrities dodging the paparazzi. Yet, the siren call of the beach area, complete with a pool, bar, and fantastic restaurant will likely coax even the most reserved guests out into the open to socialise and have some fun.

Facilities at the resort include the tranquil Secret Garden Spa with its five treatment rooms, two tennis courts for the sporty souls, a well-equipped gym, a yoga platform, and a Muay Thai ring: perfect for wealthy, dysfunctional characters who need to blow off some steam.

This sumptuous Anantara retreat is built along Phuket’s longest beach next to Sirinath National Park and breaks tradition as the first White Lotus locale not tied to the vast Four Seasons mega-brand, as of yet. Boasting 83 pool villas set around a lotus-filled lagoon (very fitting) in Southern Thai village style, one can easily envision the show’s characters wandering around the resort, immersing themselves in the exploration of ‘eastern religion and spirituality’ – themes which showrunner Mike White said would play a huge part in the upcoming series.

Anantara Mai Khao Phuket Villas is ideal for both families and lovebirds craving tranquillity. The resort offers golfing excursions, Muay Thai classes, boat trips, elephant treks, and a delightful spa offering a signature warm oil treatment blending Thai and Swedish massage techniques, along with indoor and outdoor baths. It’s also only a breezy 30-minute drive from the fabulous, gay-popular Patong Beach, making it a perfect launching pad for those seeking to explore Phuket’s famous nightlife scene.

With filming scheduled to begin in February, fans can only anticipate the riveting drama, scandal, and stunning visuals that The White Lotus Season 3 will deliver against the backdrop of these extraordinary gay-friendly Thailand resorts. However, the wait won’t be a short one. Season 3 is not expected to hit screens until sometime in 2025, and the suspense is bound to build with every passing day. As we eagerly await the next chapter in The White Lotus saga, we can’t wait to see our incredible country, with its rich culture and picturesque landscapes, take centre stage on the small screen!
